Who is responsible for covering any costs incurred for the vehicle during the rental period?

During the rental period, it is the renter's responsibility to pay for costs that arise. This includes, among other things, parking fines, speeding fines, road and bridge tolls, or damages to the vehicle. However, the renter cannot be held responsible for damage caused by wear and tear (e.g., engine, brakes, times).

Examples of such costs include late pickups, administrative fees, or charges for additional equipment like child seats or linens.

Fines and fees issued during the rental period:

Fines or fees that arise during the rental period but are only received after the booking has been completed can still be addressed. The owner can report these to MyCamper even after the check-out has taken place. MyCamper will then charge the renter for the applicable fees and transfer the amount to the owner once payment from the renter has been received. To add toll fees, owners can:

Proper documentation, such as photos or invoices, should be uploaded to support the charges. Additionally, extra charges are typically deducted from the renter's deposit, and any remaining balance is refunded to the renter. For instance, if a deposit of EUR 750 is held and an extra charge of EUR 70 is applied, EUR 70 will be debited, and the remaining EUR 680 will be released.

  1. Log into their MyCamper account.

  2. Access the booking details for the rental.

  3. You will see a button for adding extra charges where you can add the amount and a document to support the charge.

  4. The renter receives a notification from MyCamper about the charge, which they pay to MyCamper. MyCamper sends the payment to you when the renter has paid.

Ensure that you upload supporting documentation, such as toll invoices, when adding charges. The renter will receive a notification about the charge and can view the details in their account.

Post-booking costs (Deposit already refunded) :

If fines, tolls, or other charges are discovered after the rental period and the deposit was already refunded, it is the owner’s responsibility to contact the renter directly to claim the outstanding amount. Owners are advised to notify renters promptly regarding unpaid toll fees and are encouraged to use MyCamper’s messaging system for clear and documented communication. Following up on unresolved issues can further help ensure any outstanding tolls are addressed amicably.

To avoid disputes, clearly list all potential extra charges in your listing rules and communicate additional costs to renters before applying them. Providing detailed documentation to support charges can also help ensure transparency and fairness.
