On MyCamper, owners have the flexibility to determine the deposit amount themselves. This deposit serves as a security measure and is not necessarily required to match the deductible amount, but we recommend it, especially if you use your own comprehensive insurance. If a claim arises, the owner will retain the deposit until the claim gets approved. The deposit can be held for a maximum of 60 days (or until all insurance matters are clarified). The owner is obliged to send documentation on how much the repair costs are.
The deposit serves as a security for potential additional costs such as:
Cleaning fees
Mileage overages
Missing fuel or equipment
Penalties for late return or other contract violations
How Is the Deposit Handled?
The owner sets the deposit amount in their listing.
The deposit is reserved (not charged) on the renter’s credit or debit card shortly before the rental begins.
If no issues are reported after the rental, the reservation is released within 7 days.
If issues arise (e.g. cleaning, fuel, mileage), the relevant amount may be deducted from the deposit.
Important for rentals with Omocom insurance
For vehicles insured through Omocom, an additional reservation is made to cover the insurance deductible. This amount is reserved separately from the deposit.
Deductible amounts (unless reduced):
EUR 1,600 (Finland)
DKK 16,000 (Denmark)
SEK 16,000 (Sweden)
NOK 16,000 (Norway)
Renters can optionally purchase deductible reduction to lower this to:
EUR 300 / DKK 3,000 / SEK 3,000 / NOK 3,000
This deductible reservation is used only if a damage claim is filed and approved by Omocom.
The reservation is released once the risk period ends and no claim is made.
The deposit and deductible reservation are two separate holds on the renter’s payment card. Both must be authorized before the rental begins.
If you are an owner and wish to modify the deposit settings, you can click on "My vehicle," navigate to "Prices," and then access the "Deposit" category, where you can adjust the deposit amount:
