Am I covered if a renter drives recklessly in Denmark?

Denmark has a law that allows authorities to seize and sell a vehicle used in reckless driving, even if the owner had nothing to do with it. That can feel unsettling when you rent out your motorhome.

If your vehicle is registered in Denmark and you rent it out through MyCamper, you are protected against exactly this.

What the cover does

If a renter drives recklessly and the authorities seize your vehicle, the insurance pays you the market value of your motorhome. You are not left empty-handed.

If your vehicle is registered in Denmark and you rent it out through MyCamper with the standard Omocom insurance, this cover is included automatically. You do not need to add it or pay extra. It applies to bookings created on or after 26 June 2026. If you want to add this cover to a booking created before 26 June 2026, contact our customer service.

This cover does not apply if you use your own insurance instead of MyCamper's, if your vehicle is registered outside Denmark, or if you rent out privately outside MyCamper.

How it works in practice

The cover is provided by Omocom, our insurance partner. If your vehicle is ever seized under the reckless driving law, you file a claim and Omocom pays out the market value.

Our renters are screened

Every renter on MyCamper goes through an ID check and must meet our requirements before they can book. Reckless driving is very rare. But if it does happen, you are covered.
