Information on the deductible in the event of damage

The insurance provided is vehicle damage insurance, which means it covers damage to the bodywork and exterior of the rented vehicle. It applies, for example, in the event of:

  • collision

  • single-vehicle accident

  • vandalism

  • burglary damage

  • or any other sudden and external event.

The insurance applies with a deductible payable by the renter in accordance with the applicable insurance terms and conditions, regardless of the incident.

Why might a deductible apply even if the renter did not cause the damage?

The insurance is linked to the damage to the vehicle, not to the question of who is at fault. A deductible may therefore apply even if the renter did not personally cause the damage or the incident. This may apply, for example, in the case of:

  • vandalism

  • burglary

  • parking damage where the person responsible cannot be identified

  • traffic accidents where the other party has no motor insurance

  • situations where a third party cannot compensate for the damage

In the event of traffic accidents: the renter can claim compensation for the deductible themselves

If two vehicles subject to compulsory motor insurance collide, it is the rented vehicle's standard motor insurance that handles the question of liability, that is, who caused the accident. If the vehicle is repaired via the insurance from MyCamper / Omocom, the deductible may still apply to the renter, even if the other party is deemed to be at fault. The renter can then claim reimbursement for the deductible from the other party's insurance company afterwards.

This also applies to damage caused by another third party.

About Omocom's role

Omocom handles claims relating to damage to the rented vehicle in accordance with the insurance terms and conditions, but does not represent the renter in claims or recourse against third parties or the other party's insurance company.

Recourse Protection (DK / AT / DE only)

The insurance includes Recourse Protection, which means additional protection in certain situations where an ordinary motor insurer, following a liability claim, may seek compensation (recourse) from the vehicle owner because the vehicle was rented out.

The protection is designed for rentals carried out via MyCamper and can help handle such claims within the scope of the policy terms. However, it does not change the terms and conditions of the owner's ordinary insurance policy, and it remains important to comply with the requirements and obligations set by the owner's own insurer.
