How to handle damage claims with your own insurance?

Modified on Thu, 23 Jan at 3:26 PM

If your vehicle is covered by your own insurance during rentals, you are entitled to make a damage claim through your insurer in case of an incident. To ensure a smooth process and recover the deductible amount from the renter, follow these steps:

  1. Add the damage to the check-out: Indicate that you'll get back with the cost
  2. File a claim: Report the damage to your insurance and provide all necessary details.
  3. Obtain proof: Request an official document from your insurance confirming the deductible amount.
  4. Upload the document: Log in to MyCamper and upload the insurance decision to the relevant booking.
  5. Renter approval: The renter will review and approve the deduction from their deposit.
  6. Receive funds: Once approved by the renter, the amount of deductible will be transferred to you.

If the repair cost is less than the deductible listed in your vehicle profile, you can add it as an “extra charge” in the booking. Make sure to upload receipts as proof to justify the costs.

Keep the renter informed throughout the process to ensure smooth communication.
