What if a renter gets a speeding ticket during a rental?

Modified on Tue, 28 Jan at 8:39 PM

If you, as the vehicle owner, receive a speeding ticket or other traffic violation fine for an incident that occurred during a rental period, you can follow these steps:

  1. Check the date, time, and location and review your bookings on MyCamper the contact of the responsible renter.

  2. Inform the renter about the ticket and provide them with details, including a copy or image of the violation notice. As per the rental agreement, renters are responsible for all traffic violations, including speeding tickets, that occur during the rental period.

  3. Depending on local regulations, you may need to pay the ticket initially to avoid additional penalties or interest. If you pay the ticket, request reimbursement from the renter via the MyCamper platform, as they are obligated to cover such costs.

If the renter disputes the responsibility or fails to reimburse the ticket, contact MyCamper support for assistance. Provide supporting documents, such as the ticket notice, rental agreement, and communication with the renter.

MyCamper may act as a mediator but is not directly responsible for settling the fine.
